The Future Is Coming!
The Oregon State Bar will host a special Conference on the Future of the Legal Profession on Friday, September 12, at the Riverhouse in Bend. This conference will feature Keynote speaker Glen Hiemstra of www.futurist.com and Professor Ana Maria Merico of the University of Arizona College of Law. It will also include sessions on diversity & demographics, changing law practice and the future of the courts, as well as a vendor fair/trade show and an evening reception. More details will be available soon at www.osbar.org and in the July issue of the Bulletin.
Board of Governors and Other Groups Seek Public Members
The Oregon State Bar is recruiting members of the public (non-lawyers) to serve on various committees and boards. Public member opportunities for 2009 include one OSB Board of Governors position and several openings on various committees, disciplinary process boards and the House of Delegates.

If you know someone who may be interested in serving as a public member on one of these groups, please encourage him or her to apply. Applications are due on Friday, June 20, and are available on the bar’s website.

Make the Lawyer Referral Service Part Of Your Marketing Plan
The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) has a simple job: putting the public in touch with you, the lawyer in private practice. The LRS strives to provide you and your future clients with extraordinary service, delivered with the utmost respect and professionalism.

To you, the LRS acts as an extension of your law office and marketing efforts. Instead of bringing you clients randomly like other forms of marketing, LRS strives to get the exact type of clients you serve referred to you. And while traditional yellow pages advertising may be falling out of favor with the public, LRS call volume and online referral requests are booming. Unlike other advertising, you can easily know exactly how many clients you receive from the LRS. Moreover, you are only paying about $8 per month or less to receive that next big case.

Registration for the July 2008 – June 2009 year is currently underway. Visit the Lawyer Referral Service webpage for more information and to download the registration form. Don’t miss this chance to connect with clients who are out looking for you.
