2008 OSB and ABA House of Delegates Openings
The Oregon State Bar is currently seeking candidates for the OSB and ABA House
of Delegates (HOD) elections. There are two open seats for the ABA HOD and
several openings in all regions for the OSB HOD. The ABA’s terms are
for two years and the OSB’s terms are for three years.
The deadline for filing nominating petitions and candidate statements is March
24, 2008. Relevant forms and information are available here or contact

Mentor Program The Oregon New Lawyers Division (ONLD) is sponsoring
a mentor program pairing new lawyers (in practice three
years or less) with more experienced lawyers in their
local communities. The program is designed to assist
new lawyers with the transition from law school to
a successful legal career. If you are interested in
participating as a mentor or a mentee, apply
online here by February 22, 2008.

Open House – February 29
Please join the Oregon State Bar Board of Governors
and Attorney General candidates John Kroger and Greg
Macpherson for an Open House at the new bar center
on February 29 beginning at 5:30 p.m. OSB members Janet
Kreft and Fred Granata will give a presentation on
the history of the bar followed by a tour of the new
building.
The open house will be followed by a reception
that will include a selection of wines provided by Landye
Bennett Blumstein, LLP, and Karen Hinsdale's The Cellar
Door, 921 SW 16th Ave, Portland.

Pro Bono Reporting Period Extended The Pro Bono reporting period has been extended through
February 29, 2008. If you haven’t found
time to report your hours for 2007, please do so as
soon as possible. The
reporting form can be found here.

Looking For A Summer Law Clerk?
The OSB Affirmative Action Program administers summer
employment programs which place law students with Oregon
lawyers and firms. Eligibility for these programs is
open to law students who can help advance the program’s
access to justice mission. The students have a broad
range of skills and, with the exception of one program,
are fully paid or partially subsidized by the AAP assessment.
