Board of Governors and Other Groups Seek Public Members
The OSB is recruiting members of the public (non-lawyers) to serve on various committees and boards. Public member opportunities for 2008 include one OSB Board of Governors position, one PLF Board of Directors position and several openings on various committees, disciplinary process boards and the House of Delegates.
If you know someone who may be interested in serving as a public member on one of these groups, please encourage him or her to apply. Applications are due on Friday, June 22, and are available on the bar’s website.

Grow Your Practice with OSB’s Lawyer Referral Service
The bar’s Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is positioned as the first contact point for Oregonians in need of legal help and can be a valuable business development tool for your practice. Last year, more than 80,000 potential clients contacted LRS for referrals, a 7 percent increase over the year before.
The new LRS program year begins July 1, 2007. This year, we’ve expanded the program by adding new, emerging legal topics to our list of referral areas. For more information about LRS and a registration form, see
the bar’s website.

Levels of Leadership for Lawyers
Leadership is an imperative. As successful attorneys and firms are rapidly learning, they can only expand their businesses if they’re committed to a strategic course guided by a clear vision and mission, and supported by a culture of leadership.
The May-June issue of The
Complete Lawyer e-zine explores this important topic: What
is leadership? Who has it? Can it be taught and learned? What new levels of leadership
can lawyers aspire to and attain? Visit The
Complete Lawyer to find out about these matters and more.
Please note: The Complete Lawyer is a free electronic publication for
legal professionals. In the future, OSB members will be able to sign up to receive
notice whenever a new issue of The Complete Lawyer is posted. More details will be provided as they become available.
