Pro Bono Roll Call
Lawyers do great things in the community and the Pro
Bono Roll Call is your chance to prove it. Through
this voluntary effort, the bar annually collects the
number of pro bono hours performed by Oregon lawyers
for clients who could not normally afford representation.
Using this data, the bar is able to publicly recognize
lawyers doing their part to make legal services available
to all members of society.
When you report your hours, you are automatically
entered into the OSB New Lawyers Division Pro Bono
Challenge, which acknowledges lawyers in several categories
who provide the most hours of volunteer representation.
Members may login
and report online here, or print out, fill
in and mail a PDF form to the bar. Help us make a positive
impression in the community by joining the Pro Bono
Roll Call.

State Court Fees Will Change January 1, 2008
Legislative changes in 2007 that become effective on January 1 will change some state court fee amounts. The Oregon Department of Justice has more information on the rate changes here. For circuit courts, there is no single circuit court fee schedule, because circuit court fees vary by county depending on local fee assessments. If a court has not posted its fee schedule on its webpage, then contact the court directly for information. |
Where You Bank Matters
Do you keep your lawyer trust account at a Leadership Bank? The IOLTA (Interest
On Lawyer Trust Accounts) program was designed to use interest from trust accounts
to provide funding for access to justice and legal aid programs. Leadership Banks,
as designated by the Oregon Law Foundation, provide higher interest rates and
no fees, which increases the amount of money available for these programs.
For more information on the IOLTA program and the benefits of Leadership Banks,
visit the Oregon Law
Foundation’s website.

Nominations
Sought for
2008 OSB and ABA House of Delegates
The Oregon State Bar is currently seeking candidates
for the OSB and ABA House of Delegates elections. There
are two openings for the ABA House of Delegates and
several openings in all regions for the OSB House of
Delegates. The OSB HOD generally holds one meeting
during the year in September; however, a special meeting
may be called. The ABA terms are for two years and
the OSB terms are for three years.
The House of Delegates is a governance forum for the
membership through elected and ex officio representatives.
The House will debate and decide matters of bar policy
as provided in the House of Delegates Rules of Procedure,
the Bar Act, the bylaws and other rules and regulations
of the bar. The agenda for the House is developed by
the Board of Governors and includes recommendations
of sections, committees and the board, together with
any resolutions proposed by the membership. The
candidate’s statement and nominating petition
forms are available here,
for questions or more info contact Danielle
