Last year, LRS referred more than 19,000
paying clients to LRS member lawyers. In operation since
1971, LRS is a non-profit program that provides referrals
statewide in every major area of law. Panelists agree
to provide LRS clients with an initial consultation
for no more than $35.
The fee is $100 for members admitted before December
of 2004, $75 for members admitted in 2005 and 2006, and
$55 for new members. This makes LRS an
easily affordable client development tool. LRS fees
also help support the Bar's other public service programs.

The Oregon State Bar Military Assistance Panel program is designed to address legal concerns of Oregon soldiers and their families. The panel provides opportunities for Oregon attorneys to receive specialized training and offer pro bono services to active duty service members and their families.
Initiated in 2003, by Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers, Oregon Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace P. Carson, Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the OSB, the program now has over 120 volunteer attorneys.

The MMP matches lower-middle income clients, who are ineligible for legal aid, to private lawyers for reduced-fee services. Referrals are based on client income and assets, case type and availability of participating lawyers.

LRS also administers an informal service for adolescents called Problem Solvers. The program offers young adults a free 30-minute informational conference with an attorney in their area. Lawyer volunteers provide a much needed service with minimal inconvenience. Registration is easy: just indicate your interest in the program by checking the Problem Solvers line on the LRS registration form.

The Oregon State Bar's Lawyer to Lawyer program connects Oregon attorneys working in an unfamiliar practice area with experienced attorneys willing to offer informal advice at no charge. The experienced attorneys, called Resource Lawyers, offer advice through brief telephone consultation. Resource Lawyers are listed according to areas of expertise and geographic location.
Any Oregon attorney can call Lawyer to Lawyer and receive the names and telephone numbers of three Resource Lawyers. Callers' names are not taken, so confidentiality is assured. To ensure that Resource Lawyers are not overloaded with calls, the attorney listings in each location are rotated after every referral.
If you want to review a list of the areas of law covered by Resource Lawyers, or if you want to register as a Resource Lawyer, click here. To call the Lawyer to Lawyer service, dial (503) 620-0222 extension 408, or toll-free in Oregon: (800) 452-8260 extension 408.
