When an attorney transfers their status or resigns from the Bar, they have an opportunity to inform the Oregon State Bar where they will leave their client files.
If you would like to inquire about the location of files for an attorney who is no longer active, please submit your request using the link below, which will open a preformatted and addressed email. If this does not work for you, simply write an email addressed to regsvcs@osbar.org with a subject line of "File Location Request". You must provide your name, email address, and the name and bar number of the attorney. If you are unsure about their bar number, please use our licensee directory to obtain that information before submitting your request. We will be unable to respond to your request without this information and incomplete submissions will be deleted.
Please note, the Oregon State Bar does not maintain a list of prepared wills or the names of attorneys who may have prepared a specific will.
