EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – Public Defender Services of Lane County, Inc. The Executive Director assures that indigent individuals in criminal and other contracted cases receive high quality legal services, manages PDSLC’s day-to-day operations, negotiates and oversees development and administration of PDSLC’s annual budget and contract with OPDS, and conducts financial oversight and supervision of professional and support staff. The Executive Director is expected to carry a small caseload and give special attention to difficult cases. In addition, the Executive Director is PDSLC’s chief spokesperson and its primary representative and liaison with the Oregon legislature, the judiciary and courts, and state and local public safety and criminal justice agencies. In this capacity, the Executive Director demonstrates a commitment to public defense policy and practice and the ability to build successful relationships within the public defense community. Minimum qualifications: 1. A Juris Doctor degree, membership in good standing with the Oregon State Bar, and the ability to practice law in Oregon. 2. A minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing lawyer. 3. Knowledge and understanding of public defense services including juvenile, adult, and civil commitment cases.4.Strong communication skills. 5. Demonstrated leadership or the potential for leadership. Desired attributes include: 1.Demonstrated experience managing a diverse workforce consisting of attorneys, investigators, and administrative staff. 2.
