‘What’s Your Elevator Speech?’ Scheduled for April 16
Join Oregon Women Lawyers in downtown Portland April 16 for a skill-building and networking event.
Tracy Sullivan, director of career and professional development at Lewis & Clark Law School, will provide tips and suggestions for being comfortable and confident in making new acquaintances at networking events. Learn how to develop an “elevator speech.” Attendees will pair off to practice with one another, meet new people and make introductions to others. It will be a great way to practice essential communications skills and to expand your professional circle. Light refreshments will be served.

Oregon Law Review Symposium Set for April 23
The Oregon Law Review invites all Oregon lawyers to its 2015 Symposium, “Innovations in the Law,” on April 23 in Eugene. This annual event will allow practitioners, professors and entrepreneurs to analyze challenges facing the legal profession and discuss cutting-edge solutions. The evening will feature discussion panels, Q&A and mingling with peers.

Annual Youth Film Project Screening Slated for April 29
The 9th Annual Youth Film Project student filmmaking contest explores the theme of “Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law.” Portland area K-12 students were invited to show off their creativity by making a short film to be featured during Community Law Week.
Screening of the top films will be held at the Hollywood Theatre in Northeast Portland on April 29. Prizes will be awarded at the screening by honored guest, Oregon Supreme Court Justice Jack Landau. For more details, visit www. theyouthfilmproject.org.
Clackamas Women Lawyers Wine Tasting Tour on April 18
Clackamas Women Lawyers will hold its annual wine tasting tour on April 18 from 9:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. This year’s event will be held at Archer Vineyard, the Dobbes Family Estate and Carlo and Julian Winery.
The cost for the day is $50, which includes tasting fees and transportation to these beautiful local vineyards. CWLS will provide bottles of water. Every year the OSB honors Oregon’s most outstanding lawyers, judges and citizens, and membership input is needed. Nominations are now being sought for the following awards: Award of Merit; Wallace P. Carson Jr. Award for Judicial Excellence; President’s Affirmative Action Award; President’s Membership Service Award; President’s Public Service Award; President’s Public Leadership Award; and the President’s Sustainability Award. The Professionalism Commission is also accepting nominations for the Edwin J. Peterson Professionalism Award.

Applications Due May 31 for Two Positions on PLF Board
The Board of Directors of the Professional Liability Fund is looking for one lawyer and one public member to serve a five-year term on the PLF Board of Directors, beginning Jan. 1, 2016. Directors attend approximately six one- to two-day board meetings per year, plus various committee meetings. Directors are also required to spend considerable time reading board materials between meetings and participating in telephone conference calls to discuss claims.
