Addiction Recovery Retreat Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in Corbett
The Other Bar, a group focused on addiction recovery in the legal community, will host a special “spiritual retreat” at the Menucha Retreat & Conference Center in Corbett from Jan. 31 to February 2. The facilitator for the retreat will be Mike Soccio, a well-known attorney and A.A. speaker from Riverside, Calif., who is highly skilled in helping people through the 12-step program.

2014 Trial Skills College at U.O. Feb. 7-8
The University of Oregon Law School and the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association are co-sponsoring the 2014 Trial Skills College scheduled for Feb. 7 and 8 in Eugene.
This is an intensive two-day training for trial lawyers in the learn-by-doing approach in a controlled non-threatening environment. It is designed to significantly advance participants’ skills and confidence as trial lawyers at any experience level.

Lewis & Clark Public Interest Law Project Auction Feb. 7 in Portland
Lewis & Clark Law School invites all to “An Evening Under the Sea,” the Public Interest Law Project’s annual auction, supporting the school’s summer stipend program and loan repayment assistance program.
The auction brings together the Portland legal community, Lewis & Clark students and faculty and public interest law supporters as they celebrate the work PILP stipend recipients and volunteers have done throughout the year, and help raise money to support the program.
The event will be held at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland on Friday, Feb. 7. The law school will honor Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Cheryl A. Albrecht with the Larry K. Amburgey Commitment to Public Interest Law Award at the event.

UO Public Interest Fund Auction Feb. 15 in Eugene
The Oregon Law Students Public Interest Fund (OLSPIF) at the University of Oregon School of Law will host its annual auction beginning at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Eugene Country Club.
The OLSPIF auction plays a vital role in allowing law students to work in public service organizations when those organizations cannot afford to pay for law clerks. In past years, OLSPIF has provided up to 14 law students with summer stipends. These students went on to do summer work for organizations such as the Alliance for Children’s Rights and the Lane Coalition for Healthy Active Youth.

2014 Roberts-Deiz Awards Dinner March 14 in Portland
The 2014 Roberts-Deiz Awards Dinner will be held Friday, March 14, at The Nines Hotel in Portland.

The 22nd Justice Betty Roberts and Judge Mercedes Deiz awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of individuals in promoting women and minorities in the legal profession and community in Oregon. The 2014 Judge Mercedes Deiz Award recipient is Lissa Kaufman, director of Student Legal Services at Portland State University. The 2014 Justice Betty Roberts Award will be presented to Judge Elizabeth Perris of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
