Board Election Ballots Due Monday, Oct. 17
There are three open positions on the OSB Board of Governors for terms beginning in January: two in region 5 and one in region 6. Candidates have been selected for the open positions, and voting instructions will be sent via email on Oct. 3 to all members of regions 5 and 6.

Voting will close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 17. To ensure that you receive your ballot, log in to the OSB website at www.osbar.org and make sure the email address we have on file is correct.

House of Delegates Meeting Set for Oct. 28
The bar’s annual House of Delegates meeting is scheduled for Oct. 28 at the bar center in Tigard. The meeting will be followed by a reception recognizing the first group of new lawyers and their mentors participating in the OSB’s recently launched New Lawyer Mentoring Program.

For more information about the House of Delegates, visit www.osbar.org/leadership/hod.

Linn Circuit Court Reduces Public Service Hours
Due to funding reductions in the current 2011-13 budget, the Linn County Circuit Court has eliminated several court positions and reduced the hearings referee position to half time. Accordingly, public service hours have also been reduced.

Effective Sept. 12, the court records office and the cashier’s office are closed 4 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To accommodate and accept any documents and filings after 4 p.m., a secured drop box will be installed on the first floor at the public information area, room 107. These documents will be retrieved at 5 p.m. and time-stamped. In addition, it will also be necessary to close at least one courtroom per day during this biennium.

The Members’ Library at the OSB Center has closed.
With the availability of online services such as Fastcase and BarBooks, both member services, together with free online access to statutes, attorney general opinions and many other legal references, usage of the library has dwindled to almost nothing. Because of that, together with space needs in the bar’s Legal Publications Department, the OSB Members’ Library has been closed.

Douglas County Library Makes New Room Available
The Douglas County Law Library in Roseburg now has a room available for depositions and settlement conferences. There is a charge for using the room. It will be available on a first come, first served basis, with advance reservations and a deposit needed. The law library has unsecured wireless internet available as well.
