OREGON CHILD DEVELOPMENT COALITION (OCDC) BOARD MEMBER PROFILE – The Organization: Founded in 1971, OCDC provides family-focused, comprehensive early childhood development services to children 0 to six years old. OCDC is a private non-profit governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and funded by the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, Oregon Department of Education, Oregon Child Care Division, USDA, and miscellaneous grants. OCDC’s annual budget is approximately $40 plus million. OCDC provides services to over 4000 children in the State of Oregon. Nearly 2800 of those children are involved in the Migrant and Seasonal Heat Start programs offered in eleven counties in twenty seven sites throughout Oregon. OCDC employs approximately 650 employees with seasonal peaks as high as 1200. The Position: Serves as governing body member for the Oregon Child Development Coalition, a non profit corporation established to assist low-income families, especially migrant and seasonal families. The Board will act in accordance with Head Start, Health Services laws and guidelines. The Board is responsible for fiduciary and policy aspects of OCDC and conducts its governance in conjunction with the Policy Councils in accordance with the articles of Corporation and Head Start guidelines.
