Reinstatements

Notice of reinstatement applications
The following attorneys have filed applications for reinstatement as active members of the Oregon State Bar pursuant to Rule of Procedure (BR) 8.1.

Aviva Groner of Portland, OSB #925740, transferred to inactive status on June 30, 1995, to raise children. Groner has not been employed while inactive, but has been a fundraiser for several political campaigns. Upon reinstatement, she intends to assist a local attorney in the preparation of appellate briefs.

Courtney O’Connor of Portland , OSB #050815, is seeking reinstatement from a one-year disciplinary suspension. See, In re O’Connor, S53260 (2006). While suspended, O’Connor has been employed in the service industry. She has no immediate plans to return to the practice of law if reinstated.

Lawrence S. Shaw of Vancouver, Wash., and Bend, OSB #764098, transferred to inactive status in 2001, after retiring from a career with Metro. While inactive, Shaw worked for Deschutes County, providing research on Measure 37 cases. After reinstatement, he will provide similar services on a part-time basis for Central Oregon Land Watch.

The Rules of Procedure require the Board of Governors to conduct an investigation of BR 8.1 reinstatement applications to determine whether applicants possess the good moral character and general fitness to practice law, and that the resumption of the practice of law in this state by these applicants will not be detrimental to the administration of justice or the public interest. The Board of Bar Examiners requests that members examine this list and bring to the board’s attention in a signed letter any information that might influence the board in considering the moral character of any applicant for admission.
