Professional Liability Fund (PLF)

General Information

The Oregon State Bar Board of Governors created the Professional Liability Fund in 1977 pursuant to state statute and with approval of the membership. The Fund first began operation on July 1, 1978, and has been the mandatory provider of primary malpractice coverage for Oregon lawyers since that date. Oregon Attorney Assistance Program

The Oregon Attorney Assistance Program (OAAP) is a confidential service funded by the Professional Liability Fund (PLF) for all Oregon lawyers. The OAAP provides assistance with alcoholism, drug addiction, stress management, time management, career transition, compulsive disorders (including gambling addiction), relationships, depression, anxiety, and other issues that affect a lawyer's ability to function. Practice Management Assistance and Malpractice Prevention Assistance

The Professional Liability Fund provides free and confidential assistance with office systems through the Fund's Practice Management Advisor (PMA) program. The Fund's practice management advisors will come to your office at no charge and can help reduce your exposure to legal malpractice claims.
