Open Session Minutes
Mission Statement: The mission of the Oregon State Bar is to serve justice by promoting respect for the rule of law, by improving the quality of legal services, and by increasing access to justice.
The meeting was called to order by President Rew on Friday, October 27, 2000 at 2:05 p.m. The open session on Friday was from 2:05 p.m. to 12:20 p.m. All members of the Board of Governors were present with the exception of Mary Burrows, Gordon Davis, David Orf and John Tyner. Staff present included Karen Garst, Executive Director; Sandy Hise, Executive Assistant; Donna Richardson, Member Groups Coordinator; and Jeff Sapiro, Disciplinary Counsel.
1. Public Member Appointment Special Committee
A. Consider appointment of Bette Worcester as 2001-2004 BOG public member
The board discussed the appointment of Bette Worcester in light her current involvement in two Disciplinary Board cases outlined in the attached memorandum. Mr. Harnden excused himself from the meeting due to conflicts concerns about his firm's involvement in one of the disciplinary matters.

Action: Ms. Cohen moved, Mr. Williamson seconded, to approve the appointment of Bette Worcester as 2001-2004 BOG public member. The motion was withdrawn.
There was consensus to take no action on the appointment at this time.
