I didn’t receive a printed Membership Directory this year. Was it lost in the mail?
For 2011 the bar released a smaller Resource Directory with no individual lawyer listings (white pages) instead of the larger Membership Directory that has been used in the past. The reasons for this change are several: the member information is out of date as soon as it is printed and becomes all the more so during the year; the change is a proactive sustainable and environment friendly practice; the online directory is the most-frequented page on the bar’s web page; new features for the benefit of the members can be added to the online directory to make it even more user-friendly; and it is cost savings for the bar’s budget.
Is there a way to get a printed copy of the directory?
Yes! We will place an updated .pdf of the directory on the member home page each quarter so you can save the latest version. You can upload or take the file to a local print shop and order a printed copy, customized to your needs—3-hole punched in a binder, coil bound, etc. You can also order a copy from the bar and we'll print and mail it to you for $25. Place your order through the online bookstore with your VISA or MasterCard or call the OSB order desk (503-620-0222 x 350).
What is the difference between the online directory and the printable one?
The printable .pdf file is only updated once every three months. The online directory, on the other hand, is updated daily. Because of this, the online directory will always have the most accurate, up-to-date information available.
How can I use the electronic directory if I do not have internet access?
Once you download the .pdf file of the directory you can save it to any computer or storage device (flash drive, CD, hard drive, mobile phone, etc.). This allows you to use the directory even when you cannot get online since Adobe Reader does not require an internet connection.
What information can the public see in the online directory? Is it different from what bar members can see?
Public visitors to the bar’s website can view basic information on every member (name, bar number, membership status, admit date, etc.) and the contact information you choose to make public (a phone number or e-mail address at minimum).
Only members who are logged into the system will have access to your complete contact information. You can update the information that is shared on the public website by clicking on “Communication Preferences” under “Manage Your Profile” in the sidebar menu on the left of your screen and then clicking the box that says “Address Change” in the middle of the screen.
