Moves The Victim Rights Law Center wel- comes Malia Bennett, Shara Jones and Carol Schrader as new staff attorneys in the center’s Portland office. Dedicated solely to serving the legal needs of sexual assault victims, the Victim Rights Law Center represents victims of rape and sex- ual assault to help rebuild their lives, and promotes a national movement commit- ted to seeking justice for every rape and sexual assault survivor. It provides free le- gal services to sexual assault survivors in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties, and partners with local agencies to subsidize transitional housing for sexual assault survivors experiencing homeless- ness. Bennett has a background in educa- tion, immigration and housing law and speaks Spanish. Jones was in private prac- tice and conducted contract work with the Port of Portland before joining the law center. Schrader has served as a legal services attorney, director of Community Advocates and coordinator for the crime victim rights program and section man- ager at the Oregon Department of Justice. Jordan Ramis has added two new at- torneys. With more than 25 years of environmental law and litigation expe- rience, David Rab- bino focuses much of his practice in the redevelopment of contaminated real property known as brownfields. In addition, he advises clients on various financial tools available to fund brownfield projects, as well as permitting requirements and land use issues as- sociated with such projects. Prior to entering private practice, Andrew Guess worked for 11 years as an en- forcement attorney for the Environ- mental Protection Agency. Guess, who re- located from California, focuses on surety and construction litigation. Prior to joining SSJH he spent nine years prosecuting all levels of crimes for the Marion County district Attorney’s office. There he gained extensive court room experience. His time in the courtroom honed his instincts for identifying the information and actions necessary to effectively represent clients. Toby will apply his skills to representing clients in all aspects of civil litigation and dispute resolution. Toby earned his B.S. from Winona State University and his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law. Toby is an avid outdoor enthusiast and volunteers with community youth athletics.
