The scholarship will cover the recipi- ent’s registration fees at any law-related conference, as well as reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses. Ap- plicants must either practice in Or- egon, attend law school in Oregon, or have a personal connection to Or- egon and intend on pursuing a legal career in the state. Grants will vary in quantity, depending on the successful recipient’s needs and availability of funds. For more details, including how and where to apply, visit www.disabilitylaw. osbar.org. The committee will continue to review applications on an ongoing ba- sis, and will only consider applications regarding events at least three weeks af- ter the date of submission, and only for events through December 2016. UTCR Changes Effective Aug. 1 Chief Justice Thomas A. Balmer has approved changes to the Uniform Trial Court Rules, effective Aug. 1. Items of particular interest address the use of Confidential Information Forms in restraining order proceedings, Certificates of Readiness, the filing of Uniform Sup- port Declarations, limited scope represen- tation in domestic relations cases, arbitra- tion awards and a number of additional updates in light of the statewide imple- mentation of the Oregon eCourt pro- gram. The committee welcomes pro- posals for changes to the trial court rules. Public Members Needed; Applications Due by July 8 The Oregon State Bar is recruiting members of the public (nonlawyers) to serve on various committees and boards. Public member opportunities include one OSB Board of Governors position and several openings on various committees, disciplinary process boards and the House of Delegates. If you know someone who may be in- terested in serving as a public member on one of these groups, encourage them to apply. Applications are due Friday, July 8. Reporting Child Abuse Is Mandatory for Oregon Lawyers As an Oregon lawyer, you are a man- datory reporter under ORS 419B.005 et seq. A child is anyone under the age of 18. You must report whenever you have reasonable cause to believe that: 1) a child with whom you have come in contact has been abused, or 2) a person with whom you have come in contact has abused a child. You do not need to report if: 1) the information is based on a communication that is privileged; 2) the information was communicated in the course of represent- ing a client, and disclosure would be det- rimental to the client; or 3) the informa- tion was acquired from a report of child abuse, and you reasonably believe that the information already is known to law en- forcement or DHS. See ORS 419B.005 for details. Reports of child abuse are confiden- tial, except as otherwise provided in ORS 419B.035.
